Chora (pronounced Hora) is the picture-postcard heart of the island with its picturesque medieval backstreets containing whitewashed houses and chapels, windmills, a cathedral, and Venetian castle which offer stunning views out across the harbor front with the port.

Those who like to keep busy with sightseeing can explore the museums, art galleries, and shops before stopping for a drink or bite to eat at one of the many charming cafes or restaurants. Despite the slightly disheveled look which is what makes it so charming and authentically Greek, Chora is anything but a sleepy town. At night you can enjoy a home-cooked meal in a family taverna, tap your feet to the beat in jazz bars, or let your hair down at the dance clubs.

When to book your accommodation in Naxos

If you are planning your trip to Naxos during the high season (July and August) I suggest that you start looking for accommodation in March – April so that you have more choice and to find your option available. For the rest of the year, you can book your accommodation just a few days in advance unless you have a specific hotel in mind.
